Benefits and Payroll Administrator Wilmington, NCFull-Time | On-Site

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Benefits and Payroll Administrator is responsible for administering employee compensation and benefits programs, processing payroll, and supporting organizational benefits planning initiatives. This role ensures compliance with applicable employment laws and company policies while delivering exceptional support to employees and internal stakeholders.

What You'll Do

Analyze and assess existing compensation and benefits programs to ensure competitiveness with industry standards and market trends. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations related to compensation, payroll, and benefits administration. Serve as a resource for employees by addressing compensation, payroll, and benefits-related inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Maintain and update HR policies and procedures related to compensation, payroll, and employee benefits programs. Process payroll accurately and efficiently for salaried and hourly employees, including wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and tax withholdings in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll and benefits records, including salary adjustments, attendance, tax documentation, and benefit elections. Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies while providing exceptional employee support regarding payroll-related concerns. Collaborate closely with Human Resources and Finance teams to ensure alignment with payroll policies, benefits administration, and regulatory compliance requirements. Conduct payroll audits, prepare financial and benefits-related reports, and maintain documentation for internal and external audits. Monitor and remain informed of changes in tax laws, labor regulations, and payroll best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and process improvement. Administer employee leave programs, including FMLA and disability benefits, while tracking employee eligibility and maintaining accurate records. Generate reports and analyze trends related to benefits utilization, program costs, and employee participation to support management decision-making. Coordinate annual open enrollment activities, employee benefits meetings, and benefits-related communications initiatives.

What You'll Bring

Demonstrated experience processing payroll using payroll systems/software, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment. Comprehensive knowledge of employee benefits programs, compensation practices, and applicable employment laws and regulations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear guidance and high-quality customer service to employees and leadership.

Qualifications

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in payroll processing, compensation and benefits administration, or Human Resources. Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with BambooHR. Previous experience supporting operations within a classified or highly regulated environment. Active DOE/NRC Q Clearance or equivalent Top-Secret Clearance. SHRM certification or other recognized HR professional certification.

Important Note Due to the sensitive nature of our work, U.S. Citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a DOE/NRC Q-Clearance are required.
