The Benefits Specialist (HR Specialist) plays a key role in advancing Toho's people initiatives and ensuring HR operations run efficiently across the organization. This position supports a wide range of HR functions and projects that align with Toho's strategic goals and commitment to excellence in service, culture, and employee experience. As part of Toho's collaborative HR team, the Benefits Specialist primarily contributes to our Total Rewards initiatives--assisting with benefits administration, compensation, compliance, and well-being programs.

The Benefits Specialist partners closely with team members and leaders to deliver high-quality HR services that reflect integrity, trust, and professionalism. This role requires maintaining strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information and demonstrating sound judgment in all HR matters. Additionally, the Benefits Specialist is expected to stay informed about evolving HR practices, regulations, and trends, ensuring that Toho continues to grow as an employer of choice and a values driven organization that invests in its people.

Essential Functions

• Support the administration of a variety of employer-sponsored benefit programs including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, etc.
• Enter and maintain accurate employee data in HRIS and benefits administration systems, ensuring data integrity, timely processing, and compliance with established procedures.
• Process employee enrollments, changes, qualifying life events, and separations in accordance with established deadlines.
• Serve as a resource for employees regarding benefit eligibility, plan provisions, enrollment procedures, claims, and other benefit-related questions.
• Support new hire orientation and employee education related to total rewards. Develop communications, educational materials, and other employee resources.
• Serve as a liaison with Finance on payroll issues such as employee changes, deductions, garnishments, etc.
• Communicate with brokers, benefit carriers, or third-party administrators regarding eligibility, enrollment, billing, or claims. Investigate and resolve escalations when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. Audit carrier invoices and assist with monthly reconciliations.
• Coordinate engagement efforts with benefit vendors including on-site visits, benefits fairs, lunch and learn sessions, educational workshops, and other activities designed to increase employee awareness and benefit utilization.
• Assists with administration of employee leave programs including but not limited to Family Medical Leave (FMLA), sick bank, military leave, etc.
• Generate reports to identify trends, monitor utilization, support decision-making, and ensure accuracy.
• Assist with the administration for ADA accommodations and workers' compensation claims including coordinating documentation, communicating with employees and supervisors, and maintaining accurate and confidential records.
• Support a variety of Human Resources initiatives such as job fairs, wellness events, recognition programs, and employee engagement programs.
• Perform other duties across HR Knowledge Hubs to support departmental and organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience demonstrating the candidate's ability to perform successfully in this position will be considered.

• A minimum of a high school diploma or GED issued from an approved GED Administrator.
• Minimum of 2 years of human resources experience, preferably in benefits administration.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
• Excellent attention to detail, with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
• Must obtain/possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class E Drivers License.
