We are seeking Berber / Tamazight Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Berber / Tamazight is a major South Indian Dravidian language, spoken widely in India and among diaspora communities, and is often required in immigration and asylum interviews.
Responsibilities
Provide real-time Berber / Tamazight English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
Deliver interpretation with accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism.
Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
Handle both scheduled and urgent/surge assignments.
Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications
Native or near-native fluency in Berber / Tamazight and English.
2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, community, legal, healthcare, or government preferred).
Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.
Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
