BEST Program – Interim Communications Lead
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Hybrid – Boston, MA
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Interim Communications Lead to support a high-visibility enterprise program. This is a critical, short-term role responsible for executing and managing the program’s communication strategy to ensure consistent, timely, and engaging messaging across stakeholders.
The selected candidate will collaborate closely with project leadership and Organizational Change Management (OCM) teams to develop and deliver clear, impactful communications that maintain program momentum and stakeholder alignment during a transitional phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and audit current communications efforts to ensure alignment with the overall project roadmap
- Develop and distribute high-quality content including:
- Project updates
- Status reports
- Stakeholder communications
- Executive presentations
- Coordinate creation and dissemination of materials such as announcements, reports, and newsletters
- Maintain and update stakeholder distribution lists to ensure effective communication reach
- Manage and organize project documentation within SharePoint
- Review and enhance program website content with recommendations for updates or additions
- Monitor feedback channels and escalate complex issues to program leadership
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure engagement and readiness
- Provide regular updates and maintain detailed documentation to support continuity
Required Qualifications
- Proven ability to quickly adapt to complex project environments and establish credibility
- Experience in communications, public relations, or related field
- Strong writing skills with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and professional content
- Ability to quickly understand program terminology and organizational culture
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (especially PowerPoint)
- Experience with digital communication tools such as Mailchimp and/or WordPress
- Ability to balance urgent, reactive communications with long-term strategic planning
Work Model (Hybrid)
This role follows a hybrid work structure requiring:
- Minimum of 4 on-site days per month (combination of assigned and flexible days)
- Ability to report to the Boston office on short notice if required
- Initial onboarding and training may require additional on-site presence
Note: Travel to the office is not reimbursed.
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday (excluding holidays)
- Standard workday: 7.5 hours, with potential for 8-hour days upon approval
- Occasional overtime, evening, or weekend work may be required based on project needs
