The Health Business Intelligence Engineer I develops, maintains, and supports data solutions that enable data-driven decision making across Best Buy Health. This role combines business intelligence and data engineering to deliver trusted data products, scalable reporting solutions, and efficient data workflows.
Working under the guidance of existing team members, the BI Engineer I builds and maintains data pipelines, develops curated datasets, automates reporting processes, and delivers business intelligence solutions that transform data into actionable insights. The role partners closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and engineers to ensure data quality, reliability, and accessibility across the organization.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in SQL, reporting and dashboard development, and problem-solving, along with a desire to expand their skills in data engineering, automation, and modern BI technologies.
In this role, you'll primarily work virtually from home or another non‑Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team, and the recruiter or hiring manager will provide additional details during the hiring process.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain business intelligence solutions, including dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics assets using Tableau and Power BI.
- Build and support trusted data products, curated datasets, and business-ready data models within Snowflake and Trino.
- Develop and enhance automated data workflows and pipelines using tools such as Alteryx, Apache NiFi, and other approved technologies.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver scalable data and reporting solutions.
- Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of data products, reporting assets, and automated processes through testing and validation.
- Document technical solutions, business logic, data lineage, and operational procedures using established governance and knowledge management tools.
- Participate in Agile delivery processes, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and production support activities.
- Continuously expand technical and analytical skills while contributing to team standards, process improvements, and automation initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, data engineering, or a related technical field.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 1+ years of experience writing and troubleshooting SQL queries.
- 1+ years of experience working with relational database and large data sets.
- 1+ years of experience developing reports, dashboards, and business intelligence solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or data engineering
- Experience working with Snowflake or similar cloud-based data platforms.
- Experience building or maintaining ETL/ELT processes.
- Experience with Alteryx, Apache NiFi, or similar workflow automation platforms.
- Experience building dashboards in Tableau and/or Power BI.
- Experience working with python and building BI solutions using Streamlit
- Experience documenting technical solutions and data assets in Confluence or similar platforms.
- Experience working within Agile delivery methodologies and cross-functional teams.
- Experience working with healthcare data
