Founded in 2014, Bicycle Transit Systems (BTS) is a woman-owned company that designs, implements, and operates bike share systems nationwide. Our mission is to strengthen communities and protect our planet through the development and implementation of bike share. We deliver safe, seamless, and reliable service while building strong relationships with riders, suppliers, and clients. At BTS, you'll be part of a team that values collaboration, curiosity, and practical problem-solving. We are committed to building an inclusive workplace where people can contribute meaningfully and grow. Our commitment to employee well-being is reflected in our recognition as a 2026 Platinum Bell Seal recipient by Mental Health America, honoring our efforts to foster a respectful and mentally healthy workplace.
Philadelphia's bike share program, Indego, launched in 2015 and has grown to 250 stations and 2500 bikes (electric and classic), and is nationally recognized as one of the most equitable bike share programs in the country. Coordinating growth within the communities we seek to serve is fundamental to how we operate and the Indego system is set to more than double in scale in the coming years. We are currently looking for a dedicated Bicycle Mechanic to join our team!
The Bicycle Mechanic position is responsible for assisting in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of the Indego bike share fleet. Reporting to the Bike Mechanic Supervisor, the Mechanic will complete safety inspections and repairs on bicycles in the shop and the field, as well as assist with battery swapping, bike assembly, and other operational work as needed. This position will require riding a cargo bike loaded with equipment and navigating the city safely by bicycle. This position will entail outdoor work with high exposure to the public and potentially inclement weather. Bike shop experience is preferred, and urban riding experience is a must. Mechanics will receive full training on the specific maintenance requirements of the bicycles; however, experience working in mechanically and technically minded environments is required. A strong candidate will support Bike Transit's commitment to a strong and positive workplace culture.
