JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide students with appropriate interventions in the areas of reading and math with special attention to Tier II and Tier III Interventions in both English and Spanish. The interventionist provides targeted and intensive interventions for students who are struggling academically as identified by data. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress performance.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide high quality interventions in Reading, Math or subject assigned to individual students and small groups based on student data.
2. Utilize Branching Minds to document and continuously monitor student performance and progress, determine appropriate interventions, create plans for intervention delivery, and keep all records up to date.
3. Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS), Ch. 74 English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), and the Proficiency Level Descriptors (PLDs) to support the language development needs of Els.
4. Prepare lessons that deliver language instruction in accordance with the District's One-Way Dual Language Bilingual Program model.
5. Demonstrate understanding of the process of second language acquisition and the use of effective crosslinguistic strategies to bridge the languages.
6. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Spanish language acquisition, the phonetic and transparent nature of the language, and its impact on early literacy for emergent bilinguals.
7. Demonstrate understanding of the District's demographics and special programs (Bilingual/ESL, Special Education, 504, etc.), and provide authentic instructional strategies in such programs.
8. Provide data, participate in, and support campus problem solving teams to aid in decision making.
9. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning practices, strategies, activities, materials, and technology to effectively differentiate instruction for needs of students assigned with 50% or more time spent with bilingual education students.
10. Collaborate with teachers to formulate student intervention plans based on data from campus problem solving team meetings.
11. Administer assessment tools, such as Curriculum Based Measurements (CBM) to progress monitor according to expectations.
12. Interpret progress monitoring data to make instructional decisions.
13. Develop and maintain intervention schedule.
14. Support teachers in classroom data collection.
15. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits
16. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students, using the practices of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.
17. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
18. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
19. Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
20. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
21. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
22. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
23. Keep informed of and comply with State, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
24. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
25. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

28. Other duties as assigned.

• At least three years of successful teaching experience in a bilingual classroom

• Bachelor's degree from accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned to include bilingual certification
• Participate in and meet the requirements of the Texas Reading Academy alongside campus per HB3, with completion by 2022-2023

• Expertise in Reading and/or Math instruction or subject assigned
• Strong knowledge of instructional strategies for all students to develop competencies and skills needed as identified by data and the problem solving team
• Ability to interpret data for instructional decision making
• Creativity and adaptive thinking to match teaching objectives, learning strategies, and instructional plans with students' abilities
• Knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
• Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of media, work with others as a team, organize and maintain records, manage time and resources effectively and efficiently, evaluate performance, and provide constructive feedback
• Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports
• Ability to apply the principles of differentiated instruction to inform instructional practices
• Strong working knowledge of District curriculum frameworks, scope and sequence and best practices
• Ability to fluently communicate (i.e. speak, read and write) in Spanish
