The Maria L. Varisco-Rogers Charter School is seeking a passionate, culturally responsive, and student-centered Bilingual/Bicultural Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in both English and the partner language while fostering bilingualism, biliteracy, academic excellence, and cultural appreciation. We are looking for an educator who values diversity, builds strong relationships with students and families, and creates an engaging, inclusive learning environment where multilingual learners can thrive.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, and assess engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
  • Deliver instruction in English and the designated bilingual language in accordance with the school's bilingual education program.
  • Foster bilingualism, biliteracy, cross-cultural understanding, and academic achievement through high-quality instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, linguistic, and social-emotional needs of students.
  • Create a positive classroom culture that promotes respect, collaboration, inclusion, and high expectations.
  • Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments and maintain accurate attendance, grades, and required records.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians in both languages, when appropriate, to support student success and family engagement.
  • Collaborate with ESL teachers, general education teachers, intervention staff, and administrators to support multilingual learners.
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, professional development, and school improvement initiatives.
  • Support school-sponsored activities, family engagement events, field trips, and other community-building opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Qualifications
Required
  • Valid New Jersey Bilingual/Bicultural Education Endorsement or eligibility for certification.
  • Valid New Jersey instructional certificate appropriate for the position.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English and the designated bilingual language.
  • Successful completion of the New Jersey Criminal History Background Check.
Preferred
  • Experience teaching in a bilingual education setting.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices and second-language acquisition.
  • Strong classroom management, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Experience integrating instructional technology into classroom instruction.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and student-centered learning environment.
Salary

Starting at $60,170 annually
Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.
