The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works within an interdisciplinary team providing health care services within a community-based health center. This position must be able to work well in a team oriented environment and have experience working with vulnerable individuals experiencing serious and chronic mental health and addiction issues.

Schedule: Day shift, Monday-Friday with some Saturdays

Essential Job Functions

  • Initial and follow up psychiatric evaluations/assessments
  • Comprehensive mental status exams and risk assessments
  • Provides monitoring and follow-up of all referrals.
  • Prescribes psychotropic medication and manages psychotropic treatment as needed for enrolled clients.
  • Provide crisis intervention as directed.
  • Discusses and creates Treatment Plans with clients.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Education and Certification

  • Master of Science in Nursing and a post-master’s certificate with license to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • 3-5 years of clinical, psychopharmacology and direct service provision with minority communities, communities at risk and families affected by HIV/AIDS, mental illness and substance abuse.
  • Must have working experience prescribing, adjusting, and monitoring psychiatric medications. 
  • Working experience with group facilitation, psychopathology/psychotherapy, and differential diagnosis.
  • Intermediate to advance knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole)
  • Experience working with PLWHA population and social service systems in New York City.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $135,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
