Job Summary/Basic Function

The Course Developer plays a central role in the Building Puentes (BP) initiative, which delivers fully online, asynchronous college courses in Spanish. Working from proven English-language course templates, the Course Developer leads the adaptation and translation of curriculum into Spanish, coordinates resource sourcing, and collaborates closely with faculty consultants, instructional designers, and departmental stakeholders to ensure academic rigor and programmatic consistency. This position is hired per course and paid incrementally upon successful completion of milestones.

Note: The Course Developer may also serve as the Course Instructor, though these are distinct roles that may be filled by different individuals.

Note: Building Puentes is currently looking for Course Developers for the following fields: Early Childhood Education and Construction Management.

Required Qualifications
  • Native or near-native Spanish proficiency (written and spoken), sufficient to develop and deliver college-level academic content in Spanish.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, language studies, the subject area of the course being developed, or a closely related discipline).
  • Familiarity with online learning environments and asynchronous course delivery platforms (e.g., Canvas or equivalent LMS).
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a structured team environment, including faculty, instructional designers, and program administrators.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to meet development timelines and milestones.
  • Excellent written communication skills in both Spanish and English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field, including education, instructional design, linguistics, or the subject discipline of the course.
  • Prior experience teaching or developing college-level courses in Spanish.
  • Experience working with multilingual, native language, or Spanish-dominant student populations in higher education.
  • Background in instructional design principles, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL), student engagement strategies, or online pedagogy.
  • Experience collaborating with faculty subject-matter experts or serving in a curriculum coordination role.
  • Knowledge of or experience with the specific content area of the course(s) being developed.
  • Bilingual professional experience in academic or educational settings.
