POSITION OVERVIEW
The Drop-In Worker is a key member of HomePlate's Drop-In team, providing direct, relationship-based support to young people ages 12-24 experiencing homelessness and housing instability. Working in HomePlate's Beaverton and Hillsboro Drop-In Centers, this position helps create a welcoming, low-barrier environment where youth can access basic needs, connect with resources, build relationships with supportive adults, and pursue their own goals.
Under the general supervision of the Drop-In Coordinator, the Drop-In Worker uses a youth-centered, strengths-based approach grounded in the Circle of Courage to build trust and support youth with dignity, respect, and autonomy. Drop-In Workers monitor the milieu, address concerns proactively, and use appropriate de-escalation and crisis-response strategies when needed. In addition to direct youth engagement, Drop-In Workers contribute to the day-to-day functioning of the program through service navigation, referrals, documentation, data entry, volunteer and intern support, and other program responsibilities.
