Job Title: Bilingual Teacher Facilitator

Status: Exempt

Reports To: Bilingual Coordinator

Summary:
Facilitates the implementation of a comprehensive district-wide Bilingual/ESL program.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas Teacher Certification
Bilingual Certification
4 + years teaching experience in a Bilingual /Dual Language Program

Bilingual and Biliterate in Spanish/English

Preferred Requirements:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Effective communication skills, both written and oral
Knowledge of Dual Language and ESL Programs
Knowledge of second language acquisition theory, pedagogy, and instructional strategies.
Knowledge of Spanish Language Arts and Reading.
Knowledge of current literature, trends, and developments in the field of Dual Language and biliteracy.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.

1. SCHOOL CLIMATE

  • Supports the Bilingual/ESL programs by creating a positive working relationship with campuses and learning environment in the classroom
  • Schedules and facilitates regular meetings with campus administrators and Bilingual/ESL teachers in order to determine staff development needs.
  • Actively supports campuses to promote and implement a quality Bilingual/ESL Program.
2. School Improvement
  • Maintains a regular schedule of classroom visitations in order to determine staff development needs based on observation and feedback.
  • Works with schools on Parent Involvement.
  • Meets with parents to determine training needs.
  • Works with campus administrators and student committees to support ELL student achievement.
3. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
  • Develops yearly staff development calendar to include parents, teachers, students, and administrators based on surveys, individual session evaluations, and research on best practices.
  • Works closely with campus administrators and the Bilingual Coordinator to plan appropriate staff development and training opportunities for parents and staff that provides instruction to ELL students.
  • Facilitates teacher trainings provided through community based resources and providers.
  • Researches and presents staff development and training based on research-based methodologies and strategies that positively affect ELL's academic achievement
  • Utilizes assessment data to strategically target areas of need.
4. ADMINISTRATIVE AND FISCAL MANAGEMENT
  • Provides instructional support by obtaining, organizing and distributing materials and supplies.
  • Plans and submits input into the budget process and recommends the acquisition of materials, supplies and technology to support the ESL program.
  • Visits program teachers to provide individualized support for teachers that serve ELL students.Provides programmatic information to the Bilingual Coordinator and appropriate Directors in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates and actively participates in meetings, trainings and staffing related to providing quality staff development and training for the Bilingual/ESL Education teachers, campus administrative team and parents.
  • Provide assistance to teachers and administrators with the implementation of the Bilingual/ESL program to be in compliance with Federal, State, and District mandates.


5. OTHER

  1. Works with other Bilingual program staff and Coordinators to ensure collaboration between programs.
  2. Performs other such duties as assigned by the Bilingual Coordinator and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction.
