Hiring Range: $25.50-$29.96. The maximum pay for this position is $34.42.

The Benefits Processing Specialist is part of the Benefits & Community Support Services Team, in Human Services, whose primary responsibilities include: Determining initial and continuing eligibility for Public Assistance programs including Medical Assistance, Food Assistance, Adult Financial, and Colorado Works in accordance with statutory and federal, state and local rules and regulations to assure timely and accurate eligibility determination.
Additionally, this team processes ongoing case updates, conducts client interviews, manages tasks in the electronic workflow system, refers clients to additional services, and escalates clients requiring emergency assistance and/or those with service challenges.
The Benefits Processing Team serves as the back-of-house for Benefits & Community Support Services, responsible for data entry and eligibility determinations.
The position will typically work out of the main BCSS office located in Eagle, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm

Economic Services (a division within the Department of Human Services) is responsible for administering a range of critical public assistance programs including Cash, Child Care, Emergency, Energy, Food and Medical Assistance, as well as connecting customers to other vital resources and supports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Eligibility Determination: Accurately assess client eligibility for public assistance programs.
- Case Management: Process applications, conduct interviews, and manage client cases effectively.
- Data Entry & Management: Perform data entry, utilize multiple databases, and maintain accurate records.
- Client Services: Provide excellent customer service to diverse clients, including those experiencing crises or challenges.
- Program Navigation: Navigate complex program rules and regulations, and stay informed on program updates.
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community partners.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) language skills required, a bi-lingual skills test will be administered to confirm proficiency.
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Associate's Degree in public administration, business, behavioral science, or related field, preferred.
- At least two years full time experience in data entry, medical coding, order processing, bank teller, or other data input-centric roles; customer service; public assistance/human services or related fields or any combination of education, training and experience resulting in the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
- Completion of a degree program in business, behavioral science, or an appropriately related field may substitute for one year of required experience.
- Prior experience in the field of human services including working knowledge of state (specifically Colorado) human services databases/systems including CBMS and CHATS, preferred.
- Must possess a driver's license and be able to obtain a valid Colorado drivers license within 1 month. A satisfactory motor vehicle record is also required.
- Requires travel to locations within Eagle County.
- Reliable transportation required.
