Bilingual Lead Optometry Technician-6 month assignment
Tulsa, OK | Temporary (now until February 2027) | MondayFriday | $22.00/Hour
Lead Our Optometry Team While Delivering Exceptional Patient Care!
A busy ophthalmology/optometry practice in Tulsa is seeking an experienced Bilingual Lead Optometry Technician to oversee daily operations while providing outstanding clinical and optical support. This leadership role is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring staff, improving workflows, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience.
Responsibilities
Lead daily operations across two clinic locations.
Supervise, train, and support optometry technicians and staff.
Coordinate schedules and maintain efficient patient flow.
Room patients, obtain medical histories, chief complaints, and perform patient workups.
Perform diagnostic testing including OCT, visual fields, Schirmer's testing, autorefractor, lensometer, and pupilometer.
Scribe during patient exams and accurately document encounters in the EMR.
Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, eyewear, and follow-up care.
Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments.
Assist patients with eyewear selection, fittings, adjustments, repairs, and lens ordering.
Monitor inventory of optical frames, medications, office supplies, and equipment.
Handle patient concerns professionally and help resolve service issues.
Answer phones, triage urgent calls, confirm appointments, and assist with scheduling.
Coordinate equipment maintenance and serve as liaison with pharmaceutical and optical representatives.
Maintain HIPAA compliance and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Current BLS/CPR certification required.
Two or more years of Optometry or Ophthalmic Technician experience preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
Experience with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment preferred; training available for the right candidate.
Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
Excellent communication, organization, customer service, and leadership skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
