Job Description
Title: Bilingual Parent Engagement Assistant
Site: West Campus
Reports To: Executive Director of Student Services
Term: 9 Months, Full Time, Hourly
Start Date: 31/02/2026
Qualifications:
• Bilingual English/Spanish, both literacy and oral proficiency • Honest work ethic • Strong academic skills • Desire to serve the LEP and migrant populations • Excellent communications skills • Willingness to be a team player
Knowledge and Responsibilities:
• Translate for teacher/parent conferences • Interpret for PTAPTO meetings • Translate newsletters, school notes, and other written communication sent to Spanish-speaking community members • Initiates and provides support for establishing and coordinating parent involvement activities at the school and district levels • Conduct workshops and training sessions for parents of English Language Learning students • Help English Language Learning children and families transition to Kindergarten • Translates documents and communications into Spanish to be shared with parents and other Spanish-speaking community members • Serves as a liaison from English as a Second Language Program on the District Parent Advisory Committees • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
• Exert a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects. • Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, requirements are consistent with those for light work.
Acceptable Training and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED from a regionally or nationally accredited institution • Must possess a NC drivers license
