Hiring a Bilingual Phlebotomist!

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Bilingual Phlebotomist with over two years of recent phlebotomy experience. The ideal candidate must be proficient with straight needles and comfortable performing venipunctures independently from the first day. Strong communication skills, reliability, and punctuality are essential. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.
  • Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections as required.
  • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
  • Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper storage according to required temperatures and protocols.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Expertise in blood drawing and specimen collection.
  • Ability to handle data entry efficiently.
  • Experience in an outpatient setting is a plus.

Work Environment

The position is based at a new PSC in Lower Manhattan, handling 30-50 patients daily, with potential to reach up to 60. The schedule includes Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM, Thursday from 10 AM to 6 PM, and every other Saturday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
