Purpose of Position: To provide administrative bilingual non-clinical support in an efficient, timely and professional manner for physicians and staff within the medical office.
Description
:
Greets patients, obtains/confirms accurate demographic/insurance information upon registering patients into scheduling software. Secures copies of valid insurance cards and identification of patients.
Collects co-pays and payments.
Enters all payments accurately in scheduling system at time of visit; process patient receipts, reconciles individual daily cash receipts, and completes nightly batch report for all transactions on POS device.
Schedules patient appointments in person or by telephone including but not limited to office visits, laboratory, radiology and other physician''s offices. Process insurance referrals and prior authorizations.
Checks MASS REV''S and BMC for patient eligibility as needed.
Provides information on Health Care Proxies, Advanced Beneficiary Notice, HIPAA, and obtains necessary patient consents.
Answers telephone calls promptly, direct calls to appropriate personnel and or departments and take accurate messages. Retrieves and addresses all messages left on voice mail each hour. Forwards and retrieves phone lines during office hours as needed and informs the answering service of "on call" physicians schedules. Addresses all messages left with the answering service in a timely manner.
Maintains physician's daily appointment schedule; produces schedules and super bills from automated system; locates, pulls and prepares all medical records for the following day''s office visits.
Maintains organization of patient charts, department records and filing system to ensure efficient retrieval of information; affixes proper identification and aging labels on all charts, assists in location of missing charts and compiles new charts.
Pulls charts for telephone messages and distributes charts to secretary, nurse or physician as necessary. Pulls charts and attaches patient results in a timely manner.
Files correspondence, reports, tests results and re-files all charts that have been taken out of file areas.
Photocopies/faxes information, copies and/or provides medical records information for patients, outside agencies and physicians under established guidelines.
Assists in the orientation of new personnel.
Assumes professional responsibility for development of skills and ongoing education.
Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
:
Ability to read, write and communicate in English
High School graduate or equivalent.
Ability to read, write and communicate in Portuguese
Fluency in Portuguese as demonstrated by an oral fluency test administered by the CCHC Interpreter Services department.
Basic computer skills
Keyboarding at 30 words per minute as demonstrated by successful completion of a timed test
At least one-year successful experience within the past 2 years in medical setting
(Preferred) Successful completion of a minimum of 40 hour accredited medical interpreter course
Knowledge of processing referrals/prior authorizations
Schedule Details: 40 Hours Per Week, Rotating Days, 9a-5p, No Weekends & Occasional Holidays
