Steel Warehouse & Material Handling
Openwork is hiring a Warehouse Associate for a steel operation in Houston, TX 77041. This is a hands-on position involving order pulling, loading and unloading, material handling, and working with structural steel, pipe, and plate.
Candidates must be bilingual, have previous warehouse or manufacturing experience, and be flexible for overtime when needed.
Position at a Glance:
Location: Houston, TX 77041
Pay: $17.00 per hour | Weekly Pay
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM start, assigned by supervisor | 8-hour shifts
Shift: 1st Shift
Employment Type: Full-Time
Overtime: Required as needed, including short or last-minute notice
What You'll Be Doing:
- Pull materials according to pick tickets and customer orders.
- Verify material size, grade, quantity, and heat numbers.
- Handle structural steel, pipe, and plate.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Operate forklifts and cranes to move materials.
- Use saws and other equipment to cut materials as needed.
- Use tape measures, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
- Complete required paperwork and labels.
- Keep the work area clean and safe.
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
What You'll Need:
- Bilingual communication skills.
- Previous warehouse or manufacturing experience.
- Steel warehouse or steel manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Forklift and crane operating experience.
- Ability to read pick tickets and use basic measuring tools.
- Basic math skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain physically active throughout the shift.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Available for overtime with short or last-minute notice.
- Ability to meet pre-employment background and drug/alcohol screening requirements.
