Duties of the Billing and Referral Services Associate:

  • Answer and manage referral calls with professionalism and compassion
  • Complete and input referral and intake documentation into Matrix
  • Schedule and coordinate timely admissions, ensuring CTI orders are properly signed
  • Maintain strong relationships with referral sources and follow up regularly
  •  Monitor electronic referrals, faxes, and web portals for patient information
  • Verify insurance coverage and eligibility via phone and online systems
  • Communicate with families to explain insurance coverage and billing requirements
  • Handle Medicaid rate updates and physician certification processes
  • Enter billing, insurance, and authorization data into Matrix
  • Collaborate with clinical and support staff for patient admission coordination
  • Perform scanning, filing, and auditing of admission charts
  • Support compliance, reporting, and QAPI initiatives
  • Participate in the weekend on-call rotation

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6+ months of healthcare-related experience preferred
  • Ability to type 45–60 WPM and proficiency with Microsoft Word
  • Strong interpersonal, phone, and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working with the geriatric population and their families
  • Highly organized and able to manage frequent interruptions
