Duties of the Billing and Referral Services Associate:
- Answer and manage referral calls with professionalism and compassion
- Complete and input referral and intake documentation into Matrix
- Schedule and coordinate timely admissions, ensuring CTI orders are properly signed
- Maintain strong relationships with referral sources and follow up regularly
- Monitor electronic referrals, faxes, and web portals for patient information
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility via phone and online systems
- Communicate with families to explain insurance coverage and billing requirements
- Handle Medicaid rate updates and physician certification processes
- Enter billing, insurance, and authorization data into Matrix
- Collaborate with clinical and support staff for patient admission coordination
- Perform scanning, filing, and auditing of admission charts
- Support compliance, reporting, and QAPI initiatives
- Participate in the weekend on-call rotation
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6+ months of healthcare-related experience preferred
- Ability to type 45–60 WPM and proficiency with Microsoft Word
- Strong interpersonal, phone, and written communication skills
- Comfortable working with the geriatric population and their families
- Highly organized and able to manage frequent interruptions
