SUMMARY
The
Medical Biller (Follow Up) is primarily responsible for the over-all accuracy
and timely filing of claims. This position will handle a share of the billing
workflow and review processes which include, but are not limited to edits,
appeals, coding query and updating payer guidelines and OIG regulations.
JOB DUTIES
- Electronically
submits claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and/or commercial insurance companies.
- Verifies
customer eligibility with insurance carriers and if necessary, acquires
authorization.
- Request
coding verifications and changes per documentation, Updates and reviews aged receivables
for unpaid balances and resolves claim issues.
- Communicates
with customers regarding their billing and assists in collections and processes
payments.
- Receives
completed shipped orders and verifies accuracy and completeness of all required
information.
- Performs
all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Positions
requires a High School diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
- Minimum
1 year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
- Adaptable
to changing priorities and able to effectively manage departmental productivity
time.
- Clear
comprehension of written information in work-related documents.
- Verbal
communication skills to relay information effectively.
- Ability
to use reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative
solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Communicate
effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
- Skills
to apply basic mathematics to solve problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regularly
required to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally bend and move about the
facility.
- Occasional
light physical effort required.
- Occasional
lifting under 10 lbs.
- Reasonable

This
position requires a higher level of knowledge in the billing skill set with the
ability to follow up on existing claims, address the aging A/R and complete
accurate and timely appeals. Communication is a key function for this position.
