This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Central Office, 400 Otarre Parkway Cayce, SC 29033.

As the Billing Lead - Accounting / Fiscal Manager I , you will lead strategy development, performance monitoring, and process improvement initiatives to optimize cash flow, reduce aging accounts, and ensure compliance with payer and regulatory requirements and developmental disability services. You will be driving revenue growth. This position will oversee two (2) of our regional billing teams across the state.

Responsibilities include for the Billing Lead - Accounting / Fiscal Manager I include:

  • Maximize the revenue cycle efficiency.
  • Responsible for monitoring, coaching and evaluating a medical billing team.
  • Supervise daily submission of electronic claims.
  • Analyze claim rejections to identify trends and implement corrective actions plans.
  • Ensure all billing practices align with HIPPA, CMS and private payer regulations.
  • Generate reporting and financial performance to senior management.
  • Resolve complex billing workflows, patients compliance, billing disputes and establish working relationships with external stakeholders.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field and professional experience in a related area, such as accounting, auditing, finance, or banking.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 or more years of work experience in medical billing, preferably in behavioral health or with Medicaid
  • Strong knowledge of SC DHHS policies
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

  • Have proficiency in EHR systems, Excel, and payer portals.

  • Have excellent customer service and leadership skills.

  • Be able to maintain good working relationships with staff and other departments.

  • Respond in a timely manner to emails/questions for both external and internal stakeholders.
