GAINSCO is seeking a Billing Operations Specialist I to support billing processes, policy updates, and customer service activities across multiple channels. This role combines transaction processing, reporting, and customer support, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a positive experience for insureds and agent partners (Independent Agents, State Farm Agents, and GAIA channels).

What does a Billing Operations Specialist do at GAINSCO?

  • Service and update policies using AS400 and Duck Creek Policy & Billing systems.
  • Post incoming payments from insureds and agents into the billing system.
  • Process refunds, including voids, stop payments, and check issuance.
  • Reconcile and verify policy and billing transactions for accuracy.
  • Support Customer Service requests by processing: adjustments, policy transfers, and fee reversals.
  • Review and process daily policy exception reports.
  • Send refunds and correspondence via certified mail when required.
  • Partner with Financial Accounting on unclaimed property activities.
  • Provide overflow support to the call center by handling inbound inquiries from agents and insureds.
  • Deliver prompt, accurate, and professional service.
  • Assist with additional processing tasks and team support as needed.

What is required?

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Experience:

  • Prior experience as a Customer Service Representative in a call center environment is required.
  • Prior experience within the Accounts Receivable department is preferred.
  • Auto insurance industry experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic math and data validation.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when processing financial transactions.
  • Strong computer skills; comfortable navigating multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; able to identify and escalate issues appropriately.

Training:

  • 4 weeks of training: In office daily, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM schedule.
