Position Summary:
This accounts receivable position is responsible for billing and collecting behavioral health and substance abuse services provided by the agency. The role ensures accurate billing of all direct service staff activities to the appropriate payers, monitoring and resolving outstanding client balances, posting of payments, updating client accounts with insurance activity and maintaining accurate financial records.
Key Responsibilities & Role Highlights
- Process, post, and reconcile client billing, payments, and insurance claims to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.
- Research and resolve outstanding claim balances and manage claim denials.
- Maintain client eligibility, payer information, pre-authorizations, and records within the EHR system and payer portals.
- Resolve denied or rejected claims, coordinate with credentialing and payer representatives, and assist with appeals when needed.
- Provide professional customer service by responding to billing inquiries, preparing statements, and maintaining accurate financial documentation.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2–3 years of billing experience required, preferably in medical or behavioral health.
- Managed care billing experience required; COC certification preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and strong computer skills required.
- Experience with EHR systems and insurance/billing portals preferred.
- Knowledge of medical billing and coding procedures required.
- Must obtain CPI certification after hire with Unison training.
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills required.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, maintain confidentiality, and perform under pressure.
- Ability to work professionally with diverse populations and maintain schedule flexibility as needed.
