BIM Specialist

We are seeking an experienced BIM Specialist to join our Mechanical and Electrical Division. This position will report to the Project Engineer and play a key role in developing mechanical BIM models, fabrication documentation, coordination drawings, and construction deliverables.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with mechanical piping systems, BIM coordination, and construction documentation, with advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and AutoCAD Fabrication CADmep.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and develop 3D BIM models of mechanical systems, with an emphasis on mechanical piping, to support construction projects.
• Develop 3D models for piping fabrication and produce fabrication documentation.
• Participate in coordination and clash detection meetings with project teams, contractors, design professionals, and other trades.
• Create 2D drawings from 3D models, including shop drawings, as-built/record drawings, and contract documents for design-build projects.
• Collaborate closely with Project and Field Management to support construction activities.
• Research and develop effective methods for using BIM tools and technology to support design, engineering, and project management.
• Review and coordinate mechanical construction documentation and submittals.

Required Software Experience

• AutoCAD: Advanced proficiency; 7–10 years of experience required
• Autodesk Revit (2018 or newer): Advanced proficiency; 5+ years required
• AutoCAD Fabrication CADmep: Advanced proficiency; 5+ years required
• Navisworks Manage and Solibri Model Checker
• Bluebeam and Adobe Acrobat
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Trimble 3D modeling and project management tools

Required Experience & Knowledge

• 5+ years of experience drafting and designing mechanical systems.
• Experience working for a mechanical contractor or engineering firm; mechanical contractor experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical piping systems and construction practices.
• Knowledge of architectural and structural construction documentation.
• Experience with Division 22 and Division 23 submittal review.
• Strong understanding of BIM coordination and construction workflows.
