Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join the Antibody Generation group within the Biotherapeutics Discovery department located at our US headquarters in Ridgefield. As an Intern, you will engage in research focused on the evaluation of assay‑ready cell systems and characterization of cell receptor expression across multiple assay platforms. This position provides valuable exposure to functional assays, workflow development, and early‑stage biotherapeutic screening.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Evaluate and develop assay‑ready cell systems across established assay platforms (eg, flow cytometry, reporter gene, imaging)
• Characterize receptor expression levels and assess how target density influences functional assay performance
• Optimize assay ready cell systems through hands on mammalian cell culture, including preparation, expansion, and banking, to strengthen reliability and performance across functional assays
• Contribute to building decision frameworks and workflows for optimal assay and cell‑line selection
• Operate or assist in operating automated liquid handling systems
Requirements
• Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing.
• Student must be enrolled at an accredited college or university for the duration of the co-op.
• Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred.
• Major or minor in Biochemistry or Biology related field of co-op.
• Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university.
• Graduate and advanced degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university.
Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities
• Hands‑on experience with mammalian cell culture and gene expression analyses (qPCR)
• Familiarity with techniques such as flow cytometry, biochemical, or imaging‑based assays
• Demonstrated experience in development, optimization, and execution of cell-based assays
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to document, interpret, and communicate experimental data
• Experience using GraphPad Prism
• Strong verbal communication skills for effective presentation and results discussion
• Demonstrates rigorous attention to data quality, ethical standards, and scientific integrity in data generation, analysis, and reporting
• Experience operating safely in a laboratory environment
Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
• Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
Compensation Data
