Overview:
Biology student employees will work with the supervisor and fellow biology student employees preparing labs for Biology, Microbiology and Anatomy & Physiology. With laboratory safety as a priority, their duties include handling live/preserved specimens, inventory/organization/preparation of supplies & hazardous and corrosive chemicals, preparation of biohazardous materials, microbiology media and microorganisms, maintenance of cadavers, equipment, and models, light clerical work, and sterilizing equipment and biohazard waste. On occasion student employees will lift materials or equipment heavier than 40 pounds. Student employee will interact with faculty, students, and staff.

Candidate Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Other abilities):
- Must be enrolled at Oakton College in at least 6 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters. Employment over the summer is allowed for students taking at least 1 credit class during the summer, or students continuing registration into the following fall semester.
- Must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing at Oakton College.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
-Preferred but not required: some biology or science background, ability to multitask, understanding of universal precautions and blood borne pathogens.
