    Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist- Information Technology (FT Contract)

    Location: Louisville, KY

    Hourly Rate: $45.00- $55.00

    Summary:
    The Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist- – Information Technology will have hands on understanding of basic network protocols, practical hands-on experience with Server back-ups, ACL, VPN, HL7, EMR connectivity, and Networking knowledge of configuring medical equipment to a network.
     
    What you will do:
    • The Biomedical Systems – Information Technology Specialist (BS-ITS) is responsible for the lifecycle management, maintenance, and support of networked medical equipment, clinical information systems, and healthcare technology infrastructure. This role installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains medical devices and their associated networks, ensuring secure integration with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and other clinical systems. The BS-ITS supports technologies such as patient monitoring, imaging, dialysis, PACS, and anesthesia systems while managing network components including switches, servers, routers, VLANs, IP addressing, and cybersecurity. The position collaborates with clinical, IT, and facilities teams to implement new technologies, maintain regulatory compliance, provide technical training, support disaster recovery planning, and ensure the safe, reliable operation of medical equipment throughout its lifecycle.
     
    Qualifications:
    • A two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
    • A minimum of three years of hospital or healthcare experience performing medical equipment maintenance, with a minimum of one-year specialized experience in medical information systems and networking.
    • Current and advanced knowledge of computer virus protection software, available software patches and upgrades, information security tools, electronics, computers and network theory.
    • Demonstrated competency in utilizing and maintaining computer and server based medical equipment, medical record databases, and proprietary and generic software; experience with TCP/IP, HL7, networking, network security and DICOM standards; experience maintaining, interfacing and troubleshooting networked medical equipment to include VLAN configuration, IP addressing, sub-netting, and network security; ability to interpret, identify and apply network engineering principles and practices; and ability to distinguish networking problems from non-networking problems.
    • Understanding of regulatory agencies’ requirements, industry regulatory requirements and International Standard Organization standards.
    • Familiarity with the setup and application of network test equipment and tools.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.
    • Must pass Federal background and drug screen.

    Safety Requirements:
    • Maintain a safe working environment for self and others if they come in contact within the biomed area in accordance with the facility’s policies
    • Must follow OSHA guidelines in regard to blood borne pathogens, airborne pathogens, radiation, sharp instruments and/or tools, hazardous liquids, and operating devices
    • Ontime completion of safety trainings assignments 
    • Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot & cold ranges of temperature, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and detect/distinguish colors
    • Must be able be able to carry or lift up to 50 pounds routinely
