Careerscape is placing Biomedical Research Interns on behalf of our client, a biotechnology company based in Boston's Longwood Medical Area. This internship offers undergraduate and graduate students direct exposure to translational research workflows, including assay development, sample processing, and data collection in a regulated laboratory environment.

Interns will work alongside senior scientists and research associates on active projects spanning oncology and immunology pipelines. The role is structured to provide meaningful technical contributions rather than administrative support, with interns assigned to specific project teams for the duration of the engagement.

This is a paid, full-time internship running approximately 10–12 weeks. Candidates should be available to work standard laboratory hours on-site in Boston. Housing assistance is not provided, but the position is accessible via public transit on multiple MBTA lines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with cell culture maintenance, including passaging, freezing, and thawing of cell lines
  • Prepare reagents and buffers according to standard operating procedures
  • Conduct ELISA, Western blot, and PCR assays under direct supervision
  • Record experimental data accurately in electronic lab notebooks
  • Support analysis and visualization of experimental results using Excel or GraphPad
  • Maintain laboratory inventory and flag reagent reorder needs
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and present progress updates
  • Assist with literature reviews to support ongoing research projects

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • Completion of at least two laboratory science courses with hands-on lab components
  • Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written protocols precisely
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week on-site for the full internship duration
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate clearly with senior staff
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • GPA of 3.0 or above preferred

Benefits

  • Hourly compensation of $18–$23 depending on academic level
  • Direct mentorship from PhD-level scientists and research associates
  • Exposure to GxP laboratory environments and documentation practices
  • Networking opportunities within Boston's biotech corridor
  • Letter of recommendation available upon successful completion
  • Access to on-site equipment and core facilities
  • Potential for return offer or extension based on performance
