Role description:

Arcadis is actively hiring a Bird Mitigation Specialist (Field Technician) to join our growing Resilience Environment Team in Reno, NV.

This position is responsible for collecting and analyzing environmental data, conducting site assessments, performing operation and maintenance tasks, and implementing resilience and sustainability measures. The Bird Mitigation Specialist ensures compliance with regulatory requirements while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the resilience of both natural and built environments

Role accountabilities:

The Resilience Environment Field Technician/ Bird Mitigation Specialist supports the successful delivery of environmental and resilience projects by conducting hands-on fieldwork in various environments, following established soil and groundwater sampling procedures, documenting findings, and utilizing relevant technology. The technician ensures compliance with all regulations while collecting and analyzing data, implementing mitigation measures, and contributing to project documentation while maintaining high standards of safety and quality, following Arcadis Health and Safety procedures.

The role involves:

  • Collecting and monitoring environmental data using field equipment and environmental monitoring instruments, including soil, groundwater, air, and soil vapor sampling.
  • Supporting the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of groundwater treatment systems, pumps, and other field equipment.
  • Conducting site inspections, hazard evaluations, and environmental compliance activities.
  • Preparing field reports, technical documentation, and project records while utilizing photos, videos, field logs, mobile applications, and Microsoft Office tools to document findings.
  • On job site 100% of the time in Yerington, NV to support bird mitigation activities, safety audits, and project execution while collaborating with clients, regulators, and internal project teams.

Strong data management and organizational skills are required, along with the ability to accurately document field observations and testing results using Microsoft Word, Excel, mobile applications, and other digital tools. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting environmental field equipment and remediation systems. They are proactive problem-solvers with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams, clients, regulators, and community stakeholders. Success in this role requires a strong commitment to safety and quality, flexibility to travel extensively, comfort working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, and a willingness to adapt to changing field schedules. Candidates should be eager to learn, possess a strong work ethic, and hold a valid driver's license.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience working in the field doing bird mitigation related work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant safety or technical certifications-such as HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, HAZMAT, or GIS/GPS-are considered an asset.
