Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities and duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Use abrasive blasting equipment to clean and prepare surfaces of ships and marine structures.
• Remove old paint, rust, scale, and other contaminants.
• Ensure surfaces are properly prepared to receive paint and coatings
• Apply primers, paints, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
• Ensure even coverage and appropriate thickness of coatings.
• Follow specified painting procedures and techniques to achieve desired results
• Inspect finished surfaces to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Perform touch-ups and repairs as needed.
• Maintain detailed records of work completed, materials used, and any issues encountered
• Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ensure proper ventilation and environmental controls are in place during blasting and painting operations.
• Dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with local and federal regulations
• Perform routine maintenance on blasting and painting equipment.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Keep work areas clean and organized
Working Conditions
• The employee must comply with established company safety rules and OSHA standards.
• The employee must be physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment as prescribed under OSHA standards.
• Must be able to hear warning signals and read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations, and warnings.
