Medical Laboratory Scientist – Blood Bank 
Employment Type: Full-Time | Day Shift (variable schedule, weekends/holidays as needed)

A healthcare organization in the Capital Region of New York is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join a high-complexity hospital laboratory team with a strong focus on transfusion services and multi-disciplinary testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and STAT testing across all core laboratory areas

• Primary focus on blood bank / transfusion medicine testing and procedures

• Process, analyze, and verify patient specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation

• Perform quality control, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance activities

• Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of all reported results

• Support workflow across Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank as needed

• Participate in training of new staff and students when required

• Maintain compliance with hospital and laboratory standards at all times

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field

• ASCP certification required

• Strong hospital blood bank experience required

• New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure required or eligible

• Ability to work independently on night shift in a fast-paced environment

• Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills

• Comfortable covering multiple core lab areas when needed
