Position Purpose

  • The BCBA will provide support to individuals and their families by coordinating and providing services in Behavior Analysis, function analysis and assessment, behavior acquisition and reduction procedures, and adaptive life skills.
  • The BCBA will also oversee Teaching Assistants and School Monitors in terms of ensuring BIP's and FBA's are followed with fidelity. The BCBA will provide training to Teaching Assistants and School Monitors in the implementation of collecting data.

Essential Functions

  • Provide oversight to all areas of programming including the training of direct support staff.
  • Assist in the development, facilitation, and follow-up trainings in behavior analysis using both discrete trial training and natural environment training models of teaching.
  • Facilitate and assist in the development and identification of resources and support information for clients and their families.
  • Provide model teaching and other direct instructional supports, including, but not limited to, teaching, class instruction and in-service instruction to other support professionals.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools to conduct educational assessments and analyses when appropriate and to develop appropriate behavior strategies to teach appropriate behavior and reduce maladaptive behaviors.
  • Provide consultation services and to maintain ongoing communication with all constituents.
  • Keep current with literature, new research findings, and resources. Participate in continuing education courses to maintain BCBA certification.
  • Maintain all data, paperwork, and communications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to demonstrate competence in behavior management skills, instructional skills, oral and written communication, organizational skills and interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to work with a variety of clients in regard to age, functionality and with minimal direction.
  • Knowledge of DTT programing and implementation.
  • Ability to respond quickly to phone calls, text messages and emails.
  • Current on all required trainings/certifications.
  • Driver's license and own transportation.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
  • Master's degree in Special Education or related human services field.
  • Minimum of two years' experience preferred.

  • Directors of Special Education

Employment Terms

  • 10-month, full time probationary position
  • Salary range in accordance with the Eastchester Teachers Association (ETA) negotiated salary schedule; $63,872 - $88,401. Step placement contingent upon prior related experience.
  • Fingerprint Clearance: SAVE Law: Effective July 1, 2001, Education Law §§305(30), 3004-b, 3004-c and 3035, as amended by Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and Part 87 of the Commissioner's Regulations require the Commissioner of Education to request a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check for applicants for certification as well as for prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES). The Commissioner of Education carries out these responsibilities through the New York State Education Department's Office of School Personnel Review and Accountability (OSPRA).
