Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary function of the Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) is to plan, develop, and monitor a variety of behavioral support service delivery options to meet the needs of students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and/or other behavioral and social/communication challenges.

SUPERVISION:

Receives general supervision from the Director of Special Education or designee. Exercises supervision over Registered Behavior Technicians and other assigned staff.

Examples of Duties

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop materials and provide resources and deliver professional learning to administrators, certificated teachers, para-educators, and parents/guardians in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), and other evidence-based methodologies related to serving the needs of students with behavior difficulties
  • Interview staff and/or family members who know the individual served well before development of the plan to get background and preliminary information.
  • Analyze available data to help determine where, when, and why problem behaviors occur.
  • Directly observe individuals served in all relevant settings.
  • Analyze data to determine the function of the problem behavior.
  • Define all target behaviors in objective and measurable terms and design an appropriate data collection system to measure target behaviors.
  • Integrate appropriate setting event, antecedent, teaching, and consequences strategies to reduce problem behavior and increase alternative replacement behaviors.
  • Conduct behavioral and functional assessments and develop plans that conform to IDEA and California Education Code.
  • Ensure behavior support plans addresses the functions of the problem behaviors.
  • Train staff and/or family members directly on the implementation of the behavior support plan.
  • Monitor the individuals behavior data and provide descriptive progress notes on a monthly basis.
  • Conduct fidelity assessments to ensure proper implementation of the behavior support plan.
  • Analyze potential barriers to implementation and/or change the behavior support plan, if necessary.
  • Review behavior data, meet and discuss with the appropriate staff member discrepancies noted on the behavior data.
  • Attends and participate in a variety of assigned meetings, conferences, and in-services.
  • Provide required direction, support and supervision to Registered Behavior Technicians.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION/TRAINING: (These are the minimum experience standards which will be used to admit or reject applicants for examination.)

Two (2) years of fulltime paid experience serving individuals with lifelong disabilities, which includes experience completing comprehensive functional assessments and behavior support plans.

  • AND-

A bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Behavior Analysis, Education or Psychology.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES/REGISTRATIONS (At time of appointment and during employment):

An appropriate, valid California driver license and auto liability insurance.

Board Certified Behavior Analyst certification (BCBA).

ADDITIONAL SALARY INFORMATION: This is an exempt position, Management Salary Range 48. Most positions in this class work 8 hours/228-days per year. The probationary period for employees in this classification is one (1) year.

School Police Officers Differential compensation:

POST Intermediate Certification: 6% to base pay

POST Advanced Certification: 8% to base pay

Associate degree: 5% to base pay

Bachelor degree: 7% to base pay

Master degree: 9% increase to base pay
