    Board Member (Volunteer) - Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon

    Location: Oregon (virtual, with occasional in-person meetings)

    Time Commitment: Approximately 4-6 hours per month, with additional time during key periods

    Monthly Meetings: 3rd Wednesdays, 4:30-6:30 p.m.

    ABOUT PARTNERS FOR A HUNGER-FREE OREGON

    Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon (PHFO) works to end food insecurity in Oregon through policy change, systems-level advocacy, and community partnerships. Our work centers racial equity and focuses on addressing the root causes of hunger.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on hunger and food insecurity in Oregon.

    After a year of significant transition, PHFO is building the next chapter of the organization alongside our fantastic new Executive Director. We are a small, engaged working board focused on strengthening the organization, supporting our staff leadership, and advancing our mission.

    BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Attend monthly virtual board meetings.
    • Participate in governance, strategy, and organizational decision-making.
    • Respond to time-sensitive board communications within approximately 24 hours, and same-day when urgent.
    • Serve as an ambassador for PHFO and its mission.
    • Support fundraising through personal and professional networks and outreach.
    • Contribute actively to the organization during a period of transition and growth.

    PRIORITY NEEDS

    We are especially interested in candidates with experience or expertise in:

    • Board Secretary responsibilities, including governance, documentation, and coordination (high priority)
    • Policy and advocacy
    • Fundraising and development
    • Finance and accounting
    • Legal matters, especially nonprofit, employment, or governance
    • Nonprofit governance or operations
    • Lived experience with food and income insecurity

    WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

    We are seeking individuals who:

    • Are reliable, responsive, and able to follow through on commitments
    • Are comfortable engaging in an active, working board role
    • Can contribute thoughtfully and collaboratively during a period of organizational transition
    • Bring skills, perspectives, relationships, or lived experience that can strengthen PHFO's work
