Oregon Outreach, Inc. (OOI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1988, dedicated to providing alternative education programs for at-risk and disengaged youth across Oregon. Our mission is to re-engage students in their education, promote personal growth, and empower them to graduate with the skills needed for lifelong success.

Position: Volunteer Board Member

Commitment: Approximately 4–6 hours per month

Location: Meetings are virtual via Zoom

Role Overview

OOI is seeking dedicated, community-minded individuals to serve on our volunteer Board of Directors. Board members provide governance, strategic direction, and oversight to ensure the organization continues to fulfill its mission and comply with all state and federal education and nonprofit laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend and actively participate in quarterly board meetings and committee work.
  • Uphold Oregon Outreach's mission, values, and bylaws.
  • Provide fiscal oversight and approve the organization's annual budget.
  • Support fundraising, community engagement, and advocacy efforts.
  • Review policies and ensure compliance with Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and federal education standards.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Oregon Outreach in the community.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to improving educational access and equity for youth.
  • Experience in education, nonprofit management, business, social services, or community leadership preferred.
  • Willingness to contribute expertise, time, and resources to support organizational success.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Oregon.
