Overview
Board Operators are responsible for maintaining the quality of our on-air shows. This includes assisting with the production of live and recorded radio shows and podcasts, including isolating audio for show hosts, as well as maintaining station logs, operating the control boards, screen listener phone calls, and client relations. and operate remote broadcast equipment.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
Run the control board for live and prerecorded programming, take FCC Transmitter readings, run Emergency Alert System (EAS) tests, maintaining ensureing proper audio levels, transitions, and compliance with broadcast standards.
Load, schedule, and mManage on-air programming content within the WideOrbit automation system,, including retrieving files via WideOrbit Audio Finder, FTP sites, websites, and other digital delivery methods.
Review audio content for technical accuracy, sound quality, and adherence to station and client specifications prior to airing.
Monitoring and addressing issues with on-air programs for mistakes such as missed satellite cues, silence, etc.
May be asked to screen live listener phone calls
Produce Support live or and recorded broadcast programs
Editing programs from local clients/churches as well as station initiatives and programs.
In-office attendance as directed by local management
Record daily voice tracks for all stations in the market as directed.
Non-Essential Job Functions
Provide production coverage and fill in for other production staff or station personnel as operational needs arise.
Assist with studio organization and routine maintenance of production areas.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must have a foundational understanding of audio production and broadcast systems.
Must be familiar with Wide Orbit automation system and the FileZilla FTP softwaresite preferred.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Adobe Audition
Must possess vocal clarity and clear diction.
Attention to detail and proactive attitude, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Must have flexible schedule and be available to work various shifts, including nights and weekends
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger motion, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.
