Position Summary
The Boat Painter position is an important shore-based position that offers the qualified employee the opportunity to showcase their craftsmanship skills and willingness to produce quality marine construction, repair, and maintenance work to help support a comprehensive program of maintenance, modification work, and repair work of the passenger vessels in the City Experiences fleet of vessels. These vessels range in size and construction, are USCG inspected, and powered by mostly diesel engines.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The marine Painter must work in a safe, methodical, and consistent manner.
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, fabrication on passenger vessels.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on company-owned dockside facilities, docks, piers, and buildings.
- Vessel and dockside facility plumbing repairs to pipes, valves, tanks, piping, appliances, and pumping systems.
- Vessel interior and exterior painting preparation and painting. This includes descaling, then painting vessel decks, hulls, exterior, and interior topside superstructures, interior walls, ceilings, and floors.
- Welding preparation, fabrication of new and repair of structures, welding of various metals in repair or new fabrication.
- Carpentry and craftsmanship of interior joinery, walls, ceilings, decks, and all other building materials found on passenger vessels.
- Documentation and monitoring of maintenance and repair work through the company web-based and structured maintenance and repair program as requested and assisted by the Director.
- Participate in computer and mobile phone-based monitoring and input of maintenance tasks, work hours, and company training and documentation programs.
- Other marine maintenance and repair work either dockside or on the vessels not provided in detail here that the Director may require.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Must have training and experience in a field that lends itself to the job of construction, maintenance, and repair of motor vessels.
- Professional painting and paint surface preparation. Painting of steel, aluminum, wood, and veneers.
- Skilled carpentry training and experience. Working in wood, fire-resistant veneers, flooring, and ceiling materials.
- Must have good attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Plumbing and pipe fitting training and experience. This work includes refurbishment or redesign of bathrooms, vessel water pumping, steel piping, exhaust piping, and fluid drainage systems.
- Be able and willing to wear personal safety clothing and equipment such as hard hats, gloves, face masks, life vests, safety harness, etc. as necessary for safe work practice and company policy guidelines.
- Be physically fit enough to lift weights of 50lbs. or more safely and at times on moving vessels.
- Be prepared to work in outdoor weather conditions in all seasons for several hours at a time.
- Strong customer service organization and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain a high level of organization, detailed-oriented, and meet deadlines.
- Handle multiple tasks/projects at one time.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by job responsibility.
- Listen effectively, assess the situation, determine relevant issues, and suggest solutions.
- Have a working knowledge of computer skills, including but not limited to proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites.
- Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to coworkers and guests.
- Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards.
- Will be required to be available for work nights, weekends, and on all major holidays.
