If you love being on the water and you’re the person friends trust to “take the lead,” this is your summer job. As our Boating & Sailing Program Specialist at Lake Clear Summer Camp, you’ll run fun, structured waterfront experiences that help campers grow brave, capable, and curious—while keeping safety at the core.
This is a seasonal, on-site position at Lake Clear Camp. Staff live at camp and receive room and board. Camp Dates at Lake Clear Camp are July 27 – August 21, 2026 (includes training and post-camp clean-up). Camp staff are generally off from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon each week.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and facilitate daily boating and sailing activities based on campers’ ages, abilities, and interests, aligned with weekly themes and program needs
- Teach and supervise small craft activities, including canoes, kayaks, and sailboats
- Evaluate the boating abilities of campers and staff and provide appropriate instruction and support
- Assist waterfront staff in additional program areas, such as swimming and boating, as needed
- Follow all policies and procedures set by Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York and applicable standards (ACA, DOH, etc.)
- Utilize First Aid/CPR and emergency management procedures as needed to maintain a safe environment
About You:
- Per regulations, this role must be 18 years or older by July 27, 2026.
- Must have current certification or documented experience teaching and facilitating small craft boating activities for canoes, kayaks, and sailboats;
- Ability to interact positively with youth ages 7 to 17; prior youth-focused work or volunteer experience preferred.
- Ability to build and maintain positive professional work relationships
- A safety-first mindset, strong judgment, and the ability to stay calm and supportive in fast-moving situations
Compensation & Perks
- Earn $70–$80 per day (depending on experience)
