JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of the Painter is to oversee and perform painting services as requested by customers in a superior and timely fashion.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervises the care, storage and usage of all materials used in company painting processes in a safe and efficient manner. Maintains safety standards within all applicable governmental guidelines, including state fire and health codes, and federal OSHA guidelines.
  2. Assists Service Manager in maintaining all necessary documentation required by applicable government health and safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA guidelines.
  3. Controls all inventory relating to the painting process, including ordering and pricing of materials.
  4. Assists Body Shop Manager, Shop Foreman and Service Writer in estimating time and costs required to complete all painting proposals.
  5. Receives repair order assignments from Body Shop Manager.
  6. Supervises and/or performs work directed in repair order in a timely and thorough manner. Coordinates selection of colors and materials with customer and Body Shop Manager. Maintains superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
  7. Advises Body Shop Manager of any recommended changes in services ordered by customer.
  8. Determines if any further servicing should be recommended to customer, and communicates such recommendations to the Body Shop Manager.
  9. Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized materials, equipment, machinery, and painting techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer's equipment. Attends training sessions as required from time to time by Service Manager.
  10. Performs additional services required when any piece of equipment is returned by customer because of Painter's faulty workmanship.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

The Painter reports to the Body Shop Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
High school diploma or the equivalent
Working knowledge of all aspects of painting body parts and bodies of vehicles, including hand and power tools
Two years of experience as vehicle painter or apprentice
Valid driver's license
Ability to interpret vendor catalogs.


WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Will use hand and power tools. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, cust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
