Body Shop Technician Trainee

The Body Shop Technician Trainee is an entry-level position designed for individuals interested in developing a career in automotive collision repair. Working alongside experienced Body Shop Technicians, the trainee will gain hands-on experience in vehicle repair processes, shop procedures, tools, equipment, and industry standards. This position provides an opportunity to build technical skills through on-the-job training while supporting the day-to-day operations of the Body Shop.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Works alongside an assigned Body Shop Technician to learn proper collision repair techniques, procedures, and industry standards.
• Assists with vehicle disassembly, reassembly, repair preparation, and other body repair tasks under the direction of an experienced technician.
• Learns the proper and safe use of body shop tools, equipment, and materials.
• Moves customer vehicles into and out of work areas as directed.
• Retrieves parts, materials, and supplies needed for repairs.
• Assists with maintaining an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
• Replenishes shop supplies and materials as needed.
• Follows all company safety procedures and manufacturer repair guidelines.
• Participates in required technical training, certification programs, and departmental meetings.
• Demonstrates a willingness to learn, accept coaching, and continually develop technical skills.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

• No previous collision repair experience required; automotive or mechanical experience is a plus.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in automotive collision repair.
• Ability and willingness to learn new skills through hands-on instruction and formal training.
• Dependable, motivated, and able to follow instructions and established procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced shop environment.
• Must maintain a valid driver''s license and an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely operate vehicles, tools, and equipment after appropriate training.
