    Department: Body Shop / Collision Center

    Reports To: Body Shop Manager

    Employment Type: Full-Time

    Position Summary

    The Body Technician (Collision Repair Technician) diagnoses and repairs vehicles damaged in collisions, restoring structural integrity, body panels, and finish to pre-accident condition. The Technician performs metal repair, panel replacement, structural straightening, and refinish preparation in accordance with OEM specifications and shop quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Analyze damage, review repair orders and estimates, and plan the repair procedure.
    • Repair or replace damaged body panels, frames, and structural components using welding, sectioning, and bonding techniques.
    • Perform structural and unibody straightening using frame machines and measuring systems to restore factory dimensions.
    • Remove dents, dings, and imperfections through metal finishing, filling, and sanding.
    • Weld, cut, and fabricate panels as required, following OEM and I-CAR procedures.
    • Prepare repaired surfaces for refinishing, including grinding, priming, and block sanding.
    • Ensure repaired vehicles meet safety, structural, and quality standards before refinish or delivery.
    • Identify supplemental damage and communicate additional repair needs to the estimator.
    • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe work environment; follow all safety and environmental regulations.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in collision repair preferred.
    • 2+ years of hands-on collision/body repair experience.
    • I-CAR and/or ASE certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
    • Proficiency with frame machines, measuring systems, welders, and body shop tools and equipment.
    • Knowledge of OEM repair procedures, structural repair, and modern vehicle materials (steel, aluminum, composites).
    • Ability to read and interpret repair orders, estimates, and technical specifications.
    • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding work.
    • Detail-oriented, quality-focused, and able to meet production deadlines.
