A BOH Window Expeditor helps keep a smooth workflow between the kitchen and the FOH expeditor. You will work in a fast-paced environment to get proper orders out faster and more efficiently. As a BOH food expeditor, you must have excellent communication skills and experience in a restaurant’s hectic setting. You must have enough stamina to be in constant motion and skills to coordinate and organize processes and people. Job Summary
A BOH Window Expediter (or BOH Expo) is the liaison between the kitchen and the FOH expediter. The FOH expediter directs all comments, requests, questions, and special instructions to the BOH expediter, who, then addresses the kitchen staff. The FOH Expo is the only person to communicate with the kitchen expediter during peak times. Must be friendly to all employees. BOH expos ensure the expediting area (or window) stays clean and stocked and ensures quality control of the food. A BOH expediter must possess a thorough knowledge of the entire menu and the ability to recognize all the food coming from the kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Organizing Orders: The BOH expeditor organizes ticket orders, which are printed tickets for customer orders. They work closely with the kitchen staff to prioritize outgoing meals, ensuring that no orders are lost, forgotten, or delayed.
- Quality Control: As the final line of defense for quality control, the expeditor checks outgoing dishes from the kitchen pass. They ensure that the food temperature is perfect and that all food safety regulations have been followed.
- Facilitating Communication: The expeditor ensures a steady flow of information between different departments in the restaurant, including FOH expediter, servers, and kitchen staff. They enable seamless communication without disrupting the workflow at each station.
- Ensure orders are being prepared with the correct priority.
- Check dishes before delivery to the FOH expediter for accuracy, presentation, and temperature.
- Deliver orders to maintain fast service.
