Make a Difference as a Boiler Controls Technician:

As a Boiler Controls Technician at Ergon, Inc., you can look forward to an engaging day-to-day experience filled with hands-on tasks and continuous learning! Your journey will kick-start with routine inspections and maintenance of boilers and thermal fluid heaters across the Ergon network, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. You'll tune and optimize burner combustion systems, collaborate closely with your team to solve problems and utilize your electrical skills to maintain a safe and effective environment.

Enjoy the stability of a guaranteed 40-hour workweek with a flexible schedule - work four 10-hour days (4/10s) from late spring to early fall, giving you long weekends! Weekend and after-hours callouts are rare, and travel typically follows a Monday-through-Friday schedule, allowing you to enjoy your evenings and weekends. Plus, with the potential for over 300 hours of overtime annually, you'll have ample opportunities to refine your expertise.

Due to the nationwide spread of our facilities, this position requires up to 75% travel. Trip duration is capped at 2 weeks for the rare jobs that extend through the weekend.

Job Duties:

  • Service, repair, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on firetube boilers, thermal fluid heaters and other fired equipment
  • Maintain records of all service and repairs and ensure a safe and clean working environment by
  • complying with all procedures, rules and regulations
  • Work with co-workers and associates to develop and maintain strong working relationships in a cooperative work environment
  • Maintain safe work practices and good hazard recognition in all aspects of the job.
  • The person selected must have a valid driver's license

Required Skills:

  • Competent with electrical multi-meter and 120vac and low voltage control circuitry
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics
  • Preferred experience with parallel positioning combustion control such as Fireye, Siemens and Autoflame, as well as experience with VFDs, PLCs, single-loop controllers and other electronic controls
  • The person chosen must be capable of lifting or moving objects that weigh 50 pounds or more and perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, and climbing tanks or other structures
  • Capable of working extensive overtime, up to 80 hours, and weekends when needed
