As a Boiler Maintenance Technician...
Your primary responsibility will be operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting low-pressure steam and hot water boiler systems and associated mechanical equipment to ensure safe and continuous utilities service across campus.
You will perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and corrective repairs on boilers, burners, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and related systems.
You will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, combustion, and control system issues, perform combustion testing and burner adjustments, and support water treatment monitoring to maintain optimal system performance.
You will respond to alarms and service calls, document work in the CMMS, support seasonal system changeovers and commissioning activities, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Have a high school diploma or equivalent
Have 5+ years of experience operating and maintaining low-pressure steam and/or hydronic boiler systems in an industrial, commercial, institutional, or campus environment.
You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
Have extensive experience in a central plant or mission-critical facility environment.
Have troubleshooting experience with combustion controls, automated systems, and building automation systems (BAS/BMS).
Possess welding, pipefitting, fabrication, or mechanical repair skills.
Are capable of independently diagnosing sophisticated system issues and mentoring junior technicians.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
