Job Summary:

Maintain and operate Power Plant to supply hospital buildings with heat and/or cooling as well as auxiliary equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Tours boiler room to observe operating equipment, meters, etc., to ensure operation is in accord with specific instructions.
  • Adjusts equipment controls to correct malfunctions.
  • Notifies Maintenance Manager when major repairs or assistance is required.
  • Records in logbook meter, gauge, and graph readings and repair work performed.
  • Periodically tests and treats boiler water.
  • Takes log readings from chillers and boilers according to schedule.
  • Maintains boiler room and allied equipment including painting.
  • Responsible for sanitation and safety of all related areas.
  • Resets fire alarm systems.
  • Performs hospital repair calls as necessary.
  • Performs miscellaneous hospital maintenance and repairs including maintenance called in during evening, night, or weekend hours.
  • Observes all relevant risk management and infection control policies and procedures and any applicable quality improvement activities.
  • Attends orientation and ongoing in-service education as required.
Requirements:

Rhode Island Boiler operator's license required.
