Chattanooga Zoo is seeking a part-time Bookkeeper to join the Zoo Crew! To be successful in this role you will need to have a passion for numbers, possess a high level of detail, and thrive on accurate data and spreadsheets.The Bookkeeper plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and contributes to the overall financial health of the Zoo. This position involves various tasks related to general ledger maintenance, invoice processing and cash reconciliation.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Reconciling daily cash receipts and recording cash transactionsPrepare bank depositsVerification and reconciliation of credit card transactions and receiptsInvoice processing and reconciliationPosting checks and vendor paymentsMaintain electronic and physical financial recordsAssist in account analysis and account codingLog transactions and create and utilize spreadsheetsAssist with audits, forecasts, and other financial planningHandle incoming mail, scan and photocopy documentsFiling, mailing, and other duties as assignedPlease see Full Job Description below.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE•High School Diploma or equivalent requiredTwo (2) years of relevant college courseworkMinimum one (1) year relevant, hands-on experienceProficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, including Excel is requiredExperience / knowledge of Sage Intact and Bill.com preferredAny combination of equivalent education and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the position will be consideredCOMPETENCIES:Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Exceptional attention to detail; high level of accuracyExcellent computer skills; Proficiency with Excel spreadsheetsAnalytical thinker with problem solving skillsProficient fact-checking abilitiesTrustworthy and discreet when working with confidential informationLICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:Valid driver's licensePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Light: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force to constantly move objects.
