Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Bookkeeper for a growing clinical laboratory organization based in Mount Prospect, Illinois. This is a full-time, temporary-to-hire opportunity supporting the organization's accounting operations, vendor management, accounts payable, and financial reporting functions. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Bookkeeper will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of a fast-growing clinical laboratory. This hands-on position is responsible for managing high-volume accounts payable, maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, assisting with month-end close activities, and partnering closely with leadership and the organization's external accounting team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage high-volume full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice processing, vendor maintenance, expense coding, payment processing, and account reconciliations for 70+ active vendors

  • Maintain accurate financial records, prepare general ledger entries, reconcile accounts, and assist with month-end close activities

  • Partner with the external Controller, Accountant, or CPA to support financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and day-to-day accounting operations

  • Process incoming payments, maintain accounting documentation, and support audit readiness and financial recordkeeping

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, automate processes, and increase operational efficiency

  • Provide bookkeeping and administrative support while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timely completion of accounting responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience with responsibility for high-volume full-cycle accounts payable

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

  • Experience partnering with an external Controller, Accountant, or CPA to support month-end close and financial reporting

  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This temporary-to-hire position offers $31.25 per hour, depending on experience. Following successful completion of the initial 90-day onsite training period, employees will transition to a hybrid schedule with two remote workdays per week. Additional benefits information will be provided during the interview process.
