Bookkeeper (Payroll Preferred)
Location: Norman, OK (Onsite or Hybrid, depending on client needs)
About the Role
We're looking for a detail‑oriented Bookkeeper to support day‑to‑day accounting operations, with a strong preference for candidates who have hands‑on payroll experience. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning the numbers, maintaining accurate records, and supporting smooth financial operations in a collaborative office environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform full‑cycle bookkeeping including AP, AR, and general ledger entries
Process payroll accurately and on schedule (weekly/bi‑weekly), including payroll taxes and deductions
Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal and state requirements
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and payroll accounts
Prepare journal entries and assist with month‑end close
Support financial reporting and audit requests as needed
Maintain organized, accurate financial documentation
Collaborate with leadership and external partners (CPA, payroll vendors, etc.)
Highly Preferred Qualifications
Payroll processing experience (in‑house or via payroll platforms)
Experience handling payroll taxes, filings, and related compliance
Strong knowledge of bookkeeping fundamentals and general accounting practices
Proficiency with accounting software and Excel
High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines
Nice to Have
Experience supporting small to mid‑sized businesses
Exposure to multi‑state payroll
Prior experience in an office‑based accounting role
