The Concrete Pump Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a concrete pump truck, including driving to and from job sites, setting up equipment, and completing pumping operations. This role ensures high-quality service, maintains equipment in proper working condition, and represents the company professionally with customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive the pump truck safely to and from job sites and return to the yard
Operate the concrete pump in a safe and efficient manner, including setup and breakdown
Clean and maintain pump equipment after each job
Perform light repairs and routine maintenance; report issues as needed
Provide professional and courteous customer service at all times
Complete and submit pump inspection forms, maintenance logs, and required paperwork
Accurately track and report hours worked and maintain DOT logs and pre-trip inspections
Ensure proper placement, connection, and management of hoses, pipes, and clamps
Operate remote controls to manage pumping operations
Set up outriggers and ensure equipment stability during operation
Maintain cleanliness and organization of truck, equipment, and yard
Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Other responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED preferred
Experience operating concrete pumps or similar heavy equipment preferred
Valid CDL required
Valid DOT medical card and ability to pass drug testing
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
Good communication and customer service skills
Ability to work flexible and irregular hours, including long shifts
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE LEVEL:
Knowledge of concrete pump systems and basic mechanical functions
Ability to read and understand equipment and safety manuals
Strong understanding of safe equipment operation practices
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Experience operating concrete pump trucks and working in construction environments preferred
Experience working directly with customers in a service-based role
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ability to safely operate pump truck and associated equipment
Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver hoses, pipes, and related materials
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues
Ability to set up and break down equipment at job sites
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must meet DOT requirements for hearing and vision
Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods (up to 16–18 hours as needed)
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform overhead work
Ability to climb, balance, and maneuver around equipment and uneven terrain
Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions including heat, cold, and precipitation
WORK SCHEDULE:
Full-time with variable hours based on job demands
Frequent early mornings, late evenings, and extended shifts required
Schedule may change based on customer needs and project timelines
