Day-in-the-life

Start your day early and build something real. As a Bottom-End Layup Technician on our 1st shift (4:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.), you’ll earn $17–$20 while turning raw materials into finished door layups with precision and speed.

What you’ll do

  • Study the production ticket to understand door construction, customer specifications, door and core types, and stile/rail/block requirements.
  • Stage a cull board by sliding, pushing, pulling, and lifting it onto the lift table.
  • Retrieve glued materials from the glue spreader, using correct hand placement to feed materials to the top-end layup builder.
  • Lay skins on cupboards, align glued components to spec, and place the top skin to complete the door layup.
  • Use a foot pedal to align the lift table with the transfer cart, then push the stacked doors onto the cart.

How you’ll succeed

  • Operate with little to no supervision; run accurately from tickets and confirm both quality and quantity.
  • Apply strong ticket-reading and interpretation skills, perform visual quality checks, and follow build construction specifications.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of quality standards, door construction, door/core types, and stile/rail/block configurations.

Physical and mental demands

  • Lift up to 50 lbs on Hollow core and heritage specials line and up to 80 lbs on solid core and specials line.
  • Work at a fast pace with multiple glued parts; frequent bending, twisting, and stooping; stand for long, continuous hours.
  • Maintain excellent dexterity and strong eye/hand coordination.
  • Keep constant attention to build details, material placement accuracy, and glue levels.

Teamwork & environment

  • Work closely with a feeder and another operator as a tight-knit team.
  • Operate in a mildly controlled environment with mild dust and occasional cold/heat during extreme weather.
